⚡ Quick Answers: Most Searched Egg Questions

Data Correction: Kitsune drop rate is 0.08% (1/1,250), not 0.5% as listed on several third-party sites. Raccoon drops from Night Egg at 0.1%, not Zen Egg. All numbers below reflect corrected rates from the official Fandom wiki.

These are the most common questions GAG players search for. All numbers use the formula P(at least one in n eggs) = 1 − (1 − p)n, with drop rates sourced from the official Grow a Garden Fandom wiki (verified June 2026). Use the Pet Calculator to check current trade values.

🥚 What Is the Grow a Garden Egg Calculator?

The Grow a Garden Egg Calculator is a free browser tool for Roblox GAG players who want to spend their Sheckles smarter. It does three things no other tool combines in one place: shows the full pet drop table for every egg, calculates the best ROI egg for your budget, and runs an exclusive Hatch Simulator with confidence levels so you know exactly how many eggs you realistically need for any specific pet.

Most players open eggs based on gut feeling or Discord advice. The problem is that gut feeling ignores a core truth about random drops: the number most players call the average only gives you a 63% chance of success. That means 37 out of every 100 players who open the average number of eggs still leave empty-handed. This calculator shows you the full probability picture before you commit a single Sheckle.

The tool covers 20+ egg types across permanent shop, specialty, and recurring event categories, 170+ pets, 7 rarity tiers from Common through Prismatic, all Sheckle and Robux prices, and a Best ROI tab that ranks eggs by expected value for any budget you enter.

📋 How to Use the Egg Calculator

The tool has three tabs. Each one answers a different question.

Tab 1: Egg Odds — Select any egg from the card grid. The calculator loads the complete verified pet drop table for that egg showing every possible pet, its individual drop rate percentage, rarity tier, and Sheckle value. Results are sorted rarest first so high-value targets always appear at the top.

Tab 2: Best ROI — Enter your Sheckle budget and choose a sort mode: Expected Value, Best Pet Chance, or Rarest Pet. The calculator ranks all eggs instantly. This answers the question most players ask before spending: which egg should I open right now for my budget?

Tab 3: Hatch Simulator — Select a target pet from the dropdown. Set your confidence level using the slider from 50% to 99%. The simulator shows three scenarios: Lucky Case (first egg), Average Case (63% mark), and Worst Case (99% confidence). A probability bar chart shows your cumulative odds at multiple egg counts. Enter a Sheckle budget and the tool shows you exactly what confidence level that budget buys you.

📖 How Egg Drop Rates Work in Grow a Garden

Each Egg Roll Is Fully Independent. When you open an egg in Grow a Garden, the game runs a single independent random roll against that egg's drop table. The outcome is completely unaffected by every egg you have opened before. Opening 2,000 Zen Eggs without getting a Kitsune does not increase the probability of egg 2,001 producing one. Every roll resets to exactly 0.08%. This is the independence property of probability and it is the single most important thing to understand about the entire egg system. Players who believe they are "due" for a rare pet after a long dry streak are experiencing what statisticians call the gambler's fallacy — the game has no memory of your previous rolls.

Why the Average Number Is Misleading. The average number of eggs to get a specific pet is 1 divided by the drop rate. For Kitsune at 0.08%, the average is 1,250 eggs. Here is what most players do not realize: opening 1,250 Zen Eggs only gives you a 63.2% chance of getting a Kitsune. More than one in three players who opens the average number still walks away empty-handed.

The Confidence Formula
Eggs needed = ceil[ log(1 − confidence) / log(1 − drop rate) ]
Example for Kitsune at 90% confidence: ceil( log(0.10) / log(0.9992) ) = 2,877 eggs
At 30 Chi (or 149 Robux) per Zen Egg, the total cost depends on your Chi farming rate or Robux budget for 90% confidence.

This is the exact formula the Hatch Simulator uses. It is displayed transparently so you can verify the math yourself. No other GAG calculator exposes this formula. The bar chart in the Hatch Simulator shows cumulative probability at 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 egg counts — red bars mean below 50%, yellow means 50-90%, green means above 90%. For a rare pet like Kitsune, most bars stay red even at 500 eggs, making the true difficulty immediately visible.

P(at least 1 in n tries) = 1 − (1 − p)n   |   n = log(1 − confidence) / log(1 − p)

Retired Eggs (Unobtainable — Trade Only)

These eggs can no longer be hatched fresh. They exist in the economy only as traded items from players who hatched them during their original events. The Enchanted Egg was retired September 13, 2025. Seasonal eggs (Spooky, Winter, Springtide) may return during their respective seasons. For the complete archive of all eggs including hatch times and shop spawn rates, see the complete Grow a Garden Eggs List guide.

📊 Confidence Levels Explained: The Number That Actually Matters

This is the most important section on this page for anyone planning to hunt a rare pet, and the reason the Hatch Simulator is more useful than any simple drop rate table. When players see a drop rate, most read it as the number of eggs they need. The reality is more complicated. Here is the full breakdown for a 1% drop rate pet versus a 0.08% drop rate pet:

Confidence TargetEggs at 1% rateEggs at 0.08% rate (Kitsune)What It Means
50%69 eggs866 eggsCoin-flip. Half of all players get it, half do not.
75%138 eggs1,733 eggsThree in four players succeed within this count.
90%229 eggs2,877 eggsNine in ten players succeed. Realistic planning target.
99%458 eggs5,754 eggsNear-certain but extremely expensive for rare eggs.
99.9%687 eggs8,630 eggsOne in a thousand players still misses at this count.

The takeaway: plan for the 90% number, not the average. At 90% confidence you have nine in ten odds of success. Budgeting for the average number means a one in three chance of running out before you succeed. For Kitsune specifically, the 90% target is 2,877 Zen Eggs — a massive Chi or Robux investment. This is why trading for a Kitsune is almost always more efficient than hatching for one. The Hatch Simulator lets you set the confidence slider to any level from 50% to 99% and shows the exact egg count and total cost. Cross-check with the Pet Calculator for the current trade value of your target pet before committing.

⚖️ Eggs vs. Trading: The Break-Even Formula

The Break-Even Test
Step 1: Find the pet's current trade value in Sheckles (use the Pet Calculator to verify).
Step 2: Divide that value by the egg cost to find how many eggs that trade value could buy.
Step 3: Calculate the confidence level you reach with that many eggs using the actual drop rate.
Step 4: If the confidence is above your target, opening eggs is the better deal. If it is below, trading wins.

Worked Example: Kitsune. Using a hypothetical 200,000,000 Sheckle trade value for illustration: Zen Eggs cost 30 Chi or 149 Robux each (not Sheckles). The total cost to reach 90% confidence (2,877 eggs) depends entirely on your Chi farming rate or Robux budget. To reach 50% confidence you need 866 eggs — even at the cheapest Robux price, that is a significant investment. Trading at 200M Sheckles is almost always more efficient than hatching for Kitsune, regardless of how you acquire Zen Eggs. Trading wins at virtually every confidence level for Kitsune.

When Hatching Actually Beats Trading: The pet has a high drop rate (above 5%), making expected cost low relative to trade value. The egg contains multiple valuable pets so failed attempts for your target still produce usable pets. No trade partners are available and you need the pet immediately. The egg is event-only and the event is currently active — post-event trade prices will be higher. Use the Trade Calculator to verify any pet's current trade value before making this comparison. Trade values shift weekly with patches.

🎪 Event Eggs: FOMO vs. Math

Why Event Egg Pets Have Inflated Trade Value After Events Close. When an event ends, new supply of that egg's pets stops permanently. The total supply in the economy is frozen at whatever players hatched during the event window. If demand stays constant while supply is capped, trade value rises over time. This is why pets like Raccoon, Swan, and Queen Bee command premium prices long after their events. The practical implication: opening event eggs during the active window is the only route to acquisition at face value. After the event closes, your only option is paying the inflated trade price. If you see an event egg with a pet you want and can afford it, opening during the event is almost always the correct long-term decision.

Anti Bee Egg: The Only Craftable Egg. The Anti Bee Egg is unique because it can be crafted rather than purchased directly. Combine one Bee Egg with 25 Honey at the crafting station. This is worth doing if you already have surplus Bee Eggs and a Honey supply because it unlocks a completely different pet pool (Wasp, Tarantula Hawk, Moth, Butterfly, Disco Bee) without buying an additional egg.

Premium Variants: Same Pool, 30-Second Hatch. Most event eggs have a Premium counterpart that costs Robux and hatches in 30 seconds instead of the standard 4+ hours. The pet pool is usually the same, but some premium variants have slightly adjusted drop rates. Notable exception: Premium Night Egg has Raccoon at 1% versus the standard Night Egg's 0.1% — ten times higher odds for the rarest pet in that pool.

The Safari Egg remains the most overlooked value egg in the game. At 150,000 Sheckles with a 100% Divine drop, it costs less than a single Rare Egg and guarantees a Divine pet every time. The Bug Egg at 50,000,000 Sheckles with a 1% Dragonfly rate requires an average of 100 opens (5,000,000,000 total Sheckles) for one expected Divine. Safari Egg wins on expected cost for Divine access by an enormous margin.

Maximum is 13 simultaneous slots. Running all 13 with Blood Kiwi booster pets is the endgame meta for hatch throughput. Use the Crop Planner alongside this calculator to maximize Sheckle output per session while your eggs are hatching offline.

💸 Robux Eggs vs. Sheckle Eggs: Is Paying Worth It?

Several eggs can be bought with either Sheckles or Robux. Whether Robux is worth spending depends on your Sheckle farming rate and the egg's Sheckle equivalent cost.

EggRobuxShecklesFarm Time (at 1M/hr)Robux Worth It If...
Common Egg19 R$50,0003 minNever. Farm time is trivial.
Uncommon Egg39 R$150,0009 minNever unless you need it immediately.
Rare Egg89 R$600,00036 minShop is empty and you need it now.
Legendary Egg129 R$3,000,0003 hoursMultiple target pets and time is limited.
Mythical Egg119 R$8,000,0008 hoursOften yes. 8 hours of farming is high opportunity cost.
Bug Egg149 R$50,000,00050 hoursAlmost always yes. 50 hours is a very high bar.
Paradise Egg139 R$50,000,00050 hoursAlmost always yes for same reason as Bug Egg.
Prem. Night Egg199 R$N/ANot farmableOnly available route. No Sheckle alternative.
Oasis Egg149 R$N/ANot farmableRobux only. No free alternative.

The Robux value proposition improves sharply as egg Sheckle price increases. The Mythical Egg at 119 Robux versus 8,000,000 Sheckles is the practical breakpoint where Robux becomes genuinely competitive for most players. Before spending Robux on any egg, use the Profit Calculator to estimate your current Sheckle income rate.

⚠️ Eggs With Poor ROI: What to Think Twice About

Common Egg After Your First Week. The Common Egg teaches the hatching loop and costs very little. Past early game it offers no path to any meaningful pet. The entire pool is three Common pets at equal 33.3% odds. Once you have 150,000 Sheckles saved, the Uncommon Egg is strictly better in every respect.

Uncommon Egg (Once You Have Chicken). The Uncommon Egg is worth opening specifically for the Chicken, which gives 10% hatch speed reduction. Once you have one, there is no compelling reason to keep opening Uncommon Eggs because the pool tops out at Uncommon rarity with no Legendary or above.

Zen Egg for Sheckle Farming. The Zen Egg has the best absolute expected value per egg but since it costs 30 Chi or 149 Robux (not Sheckles), it cannot be compared directly on a Sheckle-per-egg basis. If your goal is to maximize Sheckle return relative to investment, the Bug Egg or Rare Egg offer better ratios in pure Sheckle terms. The Zen Egg is worth it specifically when you are hunting Kitsune or Tanchozuru, not for general farming economy.

🧬 How Your Egg Choice Connects to Crop Mutations

The pet you hatch from an egg directly determines your mutation potential for crops. This ecosystem connection is covered by no other GAG egg guide.

For the complete breakdown of how pet mutations interact with crop value multipliers, see the All Mutations in Grow a Garden guide. Use the Mutation Calculator to calculate exactly how much a Polar Bear or Dragonfly improves your expected Sheckle output per harvest. For weather events that amplify mutation-trigger pets, check the Weather Tracker to time your triggers with active weather multipliers like Thunderstorm (Shocked) and Blood Moon.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best egg to open in Grow a Garden?+
The answer depends on your goal. For highest expected value per egg, the Zen Egg (30 Chi or 149 Robux) has the strongest return with Kitsune and Tanchozuru as top-value pets, but Kitsune at 0.08% requires an average of 1,250 opens. For guaranteed Divine-tier access every single open, the Safari Egg at 150,000 Sheckles is the only egg with a 100% top-tier drop. For beginners, the Rare Egg at 600,000 Sheckles gives access to Rare pets like Monkey and Spotted Deer at affordable cost.
How many eggs does it take to get a Kitsune in Grow a Garden?+
Kitsune is a Prismatic pet from the Zen Egg with a 0.08% drop rate (1 in 1,250). At 50% confidence you need approximately 866 Zen Eggs. At 75% confidence you need 1,733. At 90% confidence you need 2,877 eggs. Since the Zen Egg costs 30 Chi (event currency) or 149 Robux, you cannot buy it with Sheckles directly — the total cost depends on your Chi farming rate or Robux budget. The average of 1,250 eggs only gives you a 63% chance. Budget for the 90% number if you want a realistic expectation of success. For most players, trading for a Kitsune is significantly more efficient than hatching for one.
Which egg does Raccoon come from in Grow a Garden?+
Raccoon drops from the Night Egg at a 0.1% rate (1 in 1,000) and from the Premium Night Egg at a 1% rate. It is not in the Zen Egg. Raccoon was added in the Lunar Glow event. Both Night Egg variants are event-only eggs available during the Lunar Glow event.
What pets are in the Zen Egg in Grow a Garden?+
The Zen Egg contains: Shiba Inu (40%), Nihonzaru (31%), Tanuki (20.82%), Tanchozuru (4.6%), Kappa (3.5%), and Kitsune (0.08%). Shiba Inu is the most common hatch, while Kitsune is the rarest pet in this egg and one of the rarest pets in the entire game. Capybara, Raccoon, and Mole are not in the Zen Egg. Capybara comes from Paradise Egg. Raccoon comes from Night Egg.
How many eggs are in Grow a Garden?+
As of June 2026, Grow a Garden has 20+ currently obtainable eggs across permanent shop, specialty, and recurring event categories. The Fandom wiki lists 50+ named egg entries in total, but many are retired event eggs that can no longer be hatched and exist in the economy as trade-only items. The number of active obtainable eggs grows with each major update.
What is the only egg guaranteed to drop a Divine pet every time?+
The Safari Egg at 150,000 Sheckles drops Elephant (Divine) on 100% of opens. It is the only egg in the game with a single-pet pool at guaranteed top-tier rarity. Every other egg in the game has some level of RNG on the pet you receive.
Which Grow a Garden egg gives the best ROI?+
For expected value percentage relative to cost, the Rare Egg at 600,000 Sheckles delivers the highest ROI with roughly 3,500 Sheckles expected value per egg. For absolute highest expected value per open, the Zen Egg (30 Chi or 149 Robux) returns the highest probability-weighted value thanks to Kitsune and Tanchozuru. The Safari Egg at 150,000 Sheckles is the best guaranteed-value egg since every open returns a Divine pet worth more than the egg cost.
How do egg drop rates work in Grow a Garden?+
Each egg has a fixed drop table with set probabilities for each pet. Every open runs a single independent random roll against that table. Previous opens have no effect on current roll outcomes. The probability of getting a specific pet at least once across multiple opens is: 1 − (1 − p) raised to the number of eggs, where p is the single-egg drop rate. This calculator uses that exact formula transparently in the Hatch Simulator.
Is it better to open eggs or trade for a pet in Grow a Garden?+
For common pets (above 5% drop rate), opening eggs is usually cheaper because expected cost is low. For rare pets like Kitsune (0.08%), trading is almost always more efficient. The break-even test: take the pet's trade value, divide by egg cost, then check what confidence level that many eggs buys at the drop rate. If that confidence is below your target, trading wins. The Hatch Simulator above runs this calculation automatically.
What pets can you get without hatching eggs in Grow a Garden?+
Three pets bypass the egg system entirely: Panda, Bald Eagle, and Blood Owl. These are acquired through special means and do not appear in any egg's drop table. If you see one of these pets in another player's garden and wonder which egg it came from, the answer is that it did not come from an egg at all.
How does the Anti Bee Egg work in Grow a Garden?+
The Anti Bee Egg is the only craftable standard egg in the game. You create one by combining one Bee Egg with 25 Honey at the crafting station during the Bizzy Bee event. This gives you access to a completely different pet pool from the Bee Egg: Wasp (55%), Tarantula Hawk (30%), Moth (13.75%), Butterfly (1%), and Disco Bee (0.25%). Disco Bee is the rarest pet in the Anti Bee Egg and one of the rarest in the entire event.
Can you still get the Dinosaur Egg in Grow a Garden?+
No. The Dinosaur Egg was available only during the Prehistoric Event and is now unobtainable through normal gameplay. The only way to get Dinosaur Egg pets like T-Rex, Triceratops, and Stegosaurus now is through trading with other players at the Trading Plaza. The T-Rex (Prismatic, ~1% original drop rate) commands extremely high trade values due to its rarity and unobtainable source.
