Grow a Garden has 50+ gears from four sources: Eloise’s Gear Shop, the Crafting Station, Travelling Merchants, and event shops. They range from 25,000 Sheckles (Basic Sprinkler) to 279 Robux (Grandmaster Sprinkler) across seven rarity tiers.
Gears are the core boost system in Grow a Garden, the popular farming game created by Widgeon on the Roblox platform. Every gear gives you a specific advantage: faster crop growth, larger fruit size, better mutation chances, or improvements to your pets.
Mutations are the real wealth engine here. A Shocked mutation adds 100x value. A Celestial mutation adds 120x. A Frozen mutation adds 10x. When you finally sell at Steven’s Stand, every boost you applied during the harvest cycle reflects directly in your Sheckle payout. Understanding gear is how you close that gap between farming slowly and farming profitably.
Quick Start: New to the game? Before anything else, buy these three items from Eloise and you will be set up correctly from the start.
If you just opened Grow a Garden for the first time, the gear system might look overwhelming. It is not. Here is all you need to know to get started:
That is it for early game. Earn Sheckles from your first few harvests, then come back to this guide and move into the mid-game section. Everything else in this article is for players who already have a working harvest loop.
What are Sheckles? Sheckles are the main currency in Grow a Garden. You earn them by growing crops and selling them at Steven’s Stand. Every gear in the game is priced in Sheckles, Robux, or both. See our full Guide on How to Farm Sheckles Fast?
If you want the quick answer on which gear is worth buying right now, here is the tier ranking. Full strategic detail is in the stage-by-stage section further down.
| Tier | Example Gear | Best Feature | Game Stage | Why It Earns This Tier |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S (Best) | Lightning Rod, Grandmaster Sprinkler, Star Caller | Guaranteed top mutations | Late to End game | Direct path to 100x to 120x value multipliers. Irreplaceable during weather events. |
| A (Great) | Master Sprinkler, Spray Mutation Shocked, Night Staff | Event-stacked returns | Late game | Strong multipliers with broad application. The Master Sprinkler is the most-used A-tier item. |
| B (Solid) | Godly Sprinkler, Magnifying Glass, Harvest Tool | Best cost-to-value ratio | Mid game | Godly Sprinkler outperforms A-tier gear in cost per use. Harvest Tool saves time at scale. |
| C (Good) | Advanced Sprinkler, Cleaning Spray, Favorite Tool | Utility and setup | Mid game | Cleaning Spray enables mutation re-rolls. Favorite Tool prevents costly harvest mistakes. |
| D (Basic) | Basic Sprinkler, Watering Can, Recall Wrench | Foundation tools | Early game | Essential to start the game loop. Quickly outclassed but never completely useless. |
There are five ways to acquire gear. Most players only use one or two of them.
Located on the opposite side of the map from the Seed Shop. Look for the green and white striped tent next to the Cosmetics and Pet Eggs shops. Press E on the NPC named Eloise to open the shop.
Stock refreshes every 5 minutes. Six items are always guaranteed: Watering Can, Trowel, Recall Wrench, Trading Ticket, Favorite Tool, and Harvest Tool. Everything else appears by rarity drop rate.
Heads Up: The shop is server-wide. Every player on every server sees the same inventory at the same time. Switching servers does not help. Save your Robux and wait for the free rotation.

Located right beside Eloise. Combines seeds, fruits, other gear, and Sheckles into items not available in the shop at all. This is where the Lightning Rod, all specialty sprinklers, the Reclaimer, and every mutation spray come from.
Appear near the Seed Shop roughly every 4 hours. Each brings different gear including mutation sprays and event items. Worth checking regularly as they carry items Eloise sometimes does not stock.
Limited-time events bring exclusive gear via event currency shops. Chocolate Sprinkler, Honey Sprinkler, Nectar Staff, and Pollen Radar all started as event-only items.
Mole and Pancake Mole pets randomly dig up gear. Football pets find Watering Cans. The Season Pass and Season Store carry Prismatic-tier gear including the Grow All (garden-wide growth acceleration across all planted crops). The Friendship Pot cannot be purchased and must be received as a player gift.
Some gear uses Honey, a secondary currency separate from Sheckles. The Nectar Staff costs 25 Honey. The Pollen Radar costs 20 Honey. The Honey Sprinkler costs 30 Honey.
You earn Honey through the Bee Swarm weather event and bee-related gameplay mechanics. Players who skip the Honey economy are leaving an entire gear category completely unused.
Every item Eloise stocks. Honey-priced items use the secondary currency described above.

Mutation sprays apply a specific mutation to one crop on demand, bypassing weather entirely. This is one of the most powerful and most ignored systems for mid-to-late game players. Readable What does Mutation do in GAG?
| Spray Name | Recipe | Mutation | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spray Mutation Shocked | Cleaning Spray + Lightning Rod + 1,000,000 Sheckles | Shocked | 100x |
| Spray Mutation Chilled | Godly Sprinkler + Cleaning Spray + 1,000,000 Sheckles | Chilled | Leads to Frozen (10x) |
| Spray Mutation Choc | Cleaning Spray + Cacao + 200,000 Sheckles | Chocolate | Multi-harvest bonus |
| Spray Mutation Pollinated | Bee Balm + Cleaning Spray + 25 Sheckles | Pollinated | 3x |
| Spray Mutation Amber | Cleaning Spray + Dinosaur Egg + 1,000,000 Sheckles | Amber | High value on rare crops |
| Spray Mutation Wet | Cleaning Spray + water materials | Wet | Precursor to Frozen (10x) |
It applies Shocked at 100x value to any crop you choose, right now, with no storm required. On a Divine or Prismatic-tier crop, that crafting cost comes back in a single harvest.
| Rarity | Color | Shop Frequency | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | White | Always visible | Watering Can |
| Uncommon | Green | Very frequent | Trowel, Recall Wrench, Trading Ticket |
| Rare | Blue | Moderate | Basic Sprinkler, Firework |
| Legendary | Purple | Occasional | Advanced Sprinkler, Medium Treat |
| Mythical | Orange | Infrequent | Godly Sprinkler, Magnifying Glass |
| Divine | Red/Gold | Rare rotation | Master Sprinkler, Harvest Tool, Night Staff |
| Prismatic | Rainbow | Extremely rare | Grandmaster Sprinkler, Level Up Lollipop |
Exactly what to prioritize at each Sheckle milestone.

Trowel first (100,000), Basic Sprinkler second (25,000). Skip the Recall Wrench. Skip the Firework entirely at every stage.
Godly Sprinkler (120,000) is your best investment. Craft a Lightning Rod as soon as you have the ingredients. Check for a specialty sprinkler in the Crafting Station that matches your main crop type.
Master Sprinkler (10,000,000) becomes your priority. Pair it with the Magnifying Glass (10,000,000) and Favorite Tool (20,000,000).
Cleaning Spray plus mutation sprays for on-demand mutations. Grandmaster Sprinkler (1,000,000,000) only when your garden is full of high-rarity crops during a weather event.
Match your gear to the active event. This is the strategy every competitor guide misses.
| Weather Event | Best Gear | Mutation | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thunderstorm | Lightning Rod or Spray Mutation Shocked | Shocked | 100x |
| Meteor Shower at Night | Star Caller (target best crops first) | Celestial | 120x |
| Night Event | Night Staff | Moonlit | 2x |
| Blood Moon | Night Staff (rarer, stronger result) | Bloodlit | 4x |
| Heat Wave | Tanning Mirror | Sundried | 85x |
| Rain | Godly or Master Sprinkler stacked | Wet | 1.5x base |
| Frost following Rain | No extra gear. Protect your Wet crops. | Frozen (from Wet) | 10x |
| Bee Swarm | Nectar Staff plus Pollen Radar | Pollinated | 3x |

During Rain, crops gain Wet mutation. Do not harvest. Wait for Frost. Frost upgrades Wet to Frozen at 10x value. No gear required. Most common costly mistake: harvesting Wet crops right before Frost.
Heads Up: If your crops have the Wet mutation, do not sell at Steven’s Stand until you check whether a Frost event is coming.
Keep a Lightning Rod crafted and in your inventory during active play. Deploy it immediately when a Thunderstorm begins on your highest-rarity crops first.
The Star Caller directs meteor strikes to specific crops for Celestial at 120x, the highest-value mutation in the game. Use it on your rarest plants first. Each Star Caller gives 1 to 3 uses.
The Blood Moon is rare and applies Bloodlit at 4x instead of the standard Moonlit at 2x. Same gear (Night Staff), stronger result. Keep one in your inventory so you are never caught unprepared.
| Factor | Godly Sprinkler | Master Sprinkler |
|---|---|---|
| Sheckle Cost | 120,000 | 10,000,000 |
| Robux Cost | 149 Robux | 199 Robux |
| Duration | 5 minutes | 10 minutes |
| Growth Speed | Strong boost | Maximum boost |
| Mutation Chance | Strong boost | Maximum boost |
| Fruit Size | Strong boost | Maximum boost |
| Shop Frequency | More frequent | Rare rotation |
| Equivalent Units | 83 Godly Sprinklers | 1 Master Sprinkler |
| Best Stage | Mid game (500K to 5M) | Late game (5M+) and events |

For most players at 500K to 5M Sheckles, buying multiple Godly Sprinklers is more practical than waiting for one Master Sprinkler. Once you are earning millions per harvest, the Master Sprinkler’s 10-minute duration during weather events makes it clearly worth the cost.
| Scenario | Robux | Worth It? | Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Refresh the shop | 79 | No | Shop is server-wide. Same inventory everywhere. Just wait 5 minutes for free. |
| Buy Grandmaster Sprinkler direct | 279 | Yes at end-game | 1 billion Sheckles is a serious grind. Reasonable skip at high-level play. |
| Buy Master Sprinkler direct | 199 | Yes at mid-game | 10 million Sheckles takes time. Fair shortcut to push into late-game. |
| Buy Godly Sprinkler direct | 149 | No | 120,000 Sheckles comes within a normal session. Not worth Robux. |
| Buy Watering Can | 39 | Never | 50,000 Sheckles. Your first earnable item in-game. |
| Buy a Firework | 39 | Never | Cosmetic only. Zero gameplay benefit. |
Before spending 10,000,000 on a Master Sprinkler or 1,000,000 on a mutation spray, check whether your current crops justify that cost in one harvest cycle.

Grow a Garden is actively developed by Widgeon on Roblox. Gear additions arrive regularly with updates.
For real-time gear additions, the official Grow a Garden Fandom Wiki (growagarden.fandom.com) and the Roblox DevForum are the fastest sources for patch notes and new item data.
Grow a Garden has over 50 gears across all sources. The Gear Shop carries 26 items, the Crafting Station adds 12 more, and Travelling Merchants plus seasonal events add further options that many older guides miss entirely.
The Gear Shop is on the opposite side of the map from the Seed Shop. Walk past the Cosmetics Shop and the Pet Eggs Shop and look for the green and white striped tent. The NPC inside is named Eloise. Press E to shop.
The Gear Shop restocks every 5 minutes. A countdown timer is visible at the top of your screen. Six items are always in stock regardless of rotation: Watering Can, Trowel, Recall Wrench, Trading Ticket, Favorite Tool, and Harvest Tool.
The best gear depends on your Sheckle balance. Mid-game: Godly Sprinkler at 120,000 Sheckles. Late-game: Master Sprinkler at 10,000,000 Sheckles. End-game: Grandmaster Sprinkler at 1,000,000,000 Sheckles used only during active weather events.
Use a Lightning Rod the moment a Thunderstorm begins. It applies Shocked at 100x value to your crops. Keep one crafted and ready at all times. If you lack one, Spray Mutation Shocked from the Crafting Station works as an alternative.
Honey is a secondary currency earned through the Bee Swarm weather event. It is used to purchase Divine and Mythical gear including the Nectar Staff (25 Honey), Pollen Radar (20 Honey), and Honey Sprinkler (30 Honey).
During Rain, crops gain the Wet mutation. If Frost follows before you harvest, Wet upgrades to Frozen at 10x value. No gear is required. Never harvest Wet crops before checking the weather cycle.
Mutation sprays apply a specific mutation to one crop without needing a weather event. Craft them at the Crafting Station. Spray Mutation Shocked gives the Shocked mutation worth 100x value to any crop of your choice.
No. The shop inventory is synchronized globally across every server. Paying 79 Robux to refresh shows the same stock that every player on every server is already seeing. The free 5-minute rotation gives you the same result.
Yes. All gear except Pet Shards is obtainable through Sheckles, crafting, or events without Robux. Mole pets dig up gear randomly, seasonal events give exclusive gear, and the Season Pass includes Prismatic-tier rewards.
Gears are where the skill in Grow a Garden actually lives. Start with the Trowel and Basic Sprinkler. Open the Crafting Station early and keep a Lightning Rod ready. Never harvest Wet-mutated crops before checking the weather cycle. Move to the Godly Sprinkler for mid-game, save the Master Sprinkler for weather event windows, and build toward mutation spray capability so you are not entirely dependent on weather randomness.
Widgeon continues to add new gear with updates. Revisiting this guide and the official Fandom Wiki after major patches keeps your strategy current.
